Hey, I'm new here.

This website was recommended to me so I hope someone can help. Basically, I just don't care at all about my life, anything or anyone in it. I have no care in getting a job, a drivers license, leaving the house and socialising with anyone whether it be friends or family etc. It all seems pointless to me but I don't understand why I feel this way and others do not understand my behaviour and attitude towards normal everyday things. I've been called numerous things because of my attitude and I'm getting tired of it especially because I don't understand myself why I feel this way regarding my own life.

Hi Casy I am glad you can here. What are some activities you enjoy around the house maybe start there and looking at the positive from that. Also starting a motivation journal would probably be beneficial so you can see your growth. Remember that you are worth and this is just right now not the next hour or day. Also if some is bullying you stand up for your self and don’t be friends with find positive people who care about you just the way you are. 
 

Also I wanted to just make sure you are in a safe place right now with everything going on because you deserve to be cared for.

I don’t really enjoy much. I mostly just read but even I’m bored of that at the moment. This is probably going to sound a bit stupid but what is a motivation journal? I haven’t written about anything since I left school. I wouldn’t say I was being bullied as most of the comments come from my family.

My room is my safe place and I spend mostly all day in there only leaving it when I absolutely have to. The rest of the house though I don’t like being in.

Welcome to the DTL community. I'm one of the digital mentors here and I give advice to those who reach out to us. It sounds like you're feeling really low at the moment, and I'm wondering, how would you describe your mental health at this point? Do you think it's related to how you're feeling or not?

It’s not the best at the moment but what I described before, I have been feeling for years and it’s progressively gotten. It could be related but I’m honestly not sure as I never really cared about about my own life anyway.

I'm wondering, why do you think you started to feel this way? Also, can you tell me more about not caring about your own life?

I’m not really sure.  It started when I was 15 though nothing major happened around that time.  I don’t care what really happens to me or what I do anymore.

Hey Casy it me again it seems like stuff has bine tough for a long time. Which is ok because life is going to have its ups and downs.

first off never feel bad about asking a question no questions are stupid. Basically a motivational journal is With goal setting pages, monthly reflection pages, weekly quotes and monthly mantras, this diary will help keep you on track from week to week. this is too help you see what’s bine working. I always like watching tv, drawing, and working out you can find a lot of good videos on YouTube. 
maybe it would help if you could just start getting out of the house by going to get coffee or joining a book club what do you think of that. 

Also for the driver’s license be patient on your self do it when your ready but you can take practice permit test online for the first step before even getting behind the wheel. 
I hope this will help. Also life is short so it is important to do stuff you like and try new fear’s stay strong because you are amazing

Hey, thanks for taking your time to explain it. Sounds quite useful although I haven’t ever really been a diary person. I’ll have a look at them though and see if I can find something suitable for me.

Leaving the house is a massive struggle. I really don’t like leaving it unless I absolutely have to or if I’m going to my dad’s for a weekend. Where I live, there’s nothing to do (1 corner shop and 1 park) and transport is a massive issue. There’s only 2 buses going at the moment.

I know I should do it when I’m ready for it but every time I say I won’t, all I get is judgement from people.

I don’t think I’m feeling stuck? It’s more of a feeling of I know what I can and should be doing, I just have no care to do it at all if that makes sense? I know I should go and get a job, a drivers license, leave the house and socialise etc, I just don’t want to. If that isn’t what you mean by the question, I’m sorry.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you for clarifying. I think in your situation, it might be that once you start doing those things, you might start to feel better about your life because you may start to get more enjoyment at the points where you achieve those things. What do you think?

I'm wondering, could it be worth a try? Could you set some goals to achieve that could turn into a bit of an experiment, perhaps? When people feel low, having something to work towards and then achieve can help you to feel more motivated and lift you out of that dark place.

I’ve tried setting myself goals but I don’t end up achieving them or just stop before I get there.

The goals I set myself were something I should’ve been able to achieve or do, yet I failed to either do them or reach the actual goal. They were realistic ones too. I think I end up not achieving them because at some point I just give up caring about the goal.

I literally don’t care about anything with moving forward at the moment although I know I should.

That's okay. I can definitely see how you're struggling with motivation at the moment, and that happens to all of us at some point. There can be loads of reasons why people end up feeling this way, and I'm wondering, how would you describe your mood generally?
