Someone at my school ended up severely harming themself and that ended up triggering me (even though I don't know the person...) I am still shaken up about it and I wanna cry...I can't cry and I feel like it would be selfish to but I feel like I need to....That could've been me that had harmed very badly and sent to the hospital and it ended up triggering me very badly...Is it selfish to feel so unsecure and down about something that didn't happen to me? I don't even know the person! (I still feel this way though...) If I do end up crying..then is that selfish also...?

Hey @Firefly 23

Thank you for opening up about this. It's completely normal and totally understandable to be triggered by this. We all have emotional reactions to distressing situations, and it's really important to let out those feelings and talk about them, because otherwise, they end up getting bottled up. What do you think? How are you feeling today?

I am feeling like crap emotionally rn...It's just that to have something like this happen in one of my safe zones is pretty bad...I also remembered when I did h.rm in class back in 7th grade..

I know someone who self harmed badly and it hurt me inside and it's not selfish, maybe have  bath? Or eat something and do something that is going to make you take your mind of things.  We're here for you

After school I will do that (I will do something that will capture my attention and keep my negative memories away..)

Thank you for your support.

Hey,

Yeah, I completely get what you're saying about how this can make you feel when its in your safe zone. I'm wondering, how are you feeling about your safe zone after this has happened?

Hey there,

I'm glad that you're feeling better. I think that with something like this, time is the best healer. If something similar happens again, is there anyone in school you could go to for support?

There is my school counselor!

Hey,

That's good to hear. Have you gone to them for support before? If so, how was it?

Hey there,

That's great and it sounds like they're a great source of support for you to lean on if you need it in the future 🙂

Would you like support with anything else for now?
