are instagram reports anonymous?

hi all, i tried googling this but wasn't sure whether it was the truth or not

if i report somebody on instagram for being mean to me - do they know that i've reported them?

like, does it give them a notification or is it private and anonymous? 

please let me know i'm worrying now, thank you!

Hi Cloudzs,

Worry not - Instagram reports are anonymous. The person you reported may know somebody reported them if their content is removed or account is blocked, but Instagram does not identify the person that reported them. You’re safe!

By reporting the account, are you hoping to have them banned? I'm just thinking, if you don't get the outcome you want, we might be able to look into it more for you. See what Instagram say first and then we can go from there if we need to
