What are our thoughts on neopronouns that can be taken as objectifying?

What are your thoughts on pronouns like it/its and thing/things for people? Would you choose to use them? If your friends used them, would you use them without question or try to avoid them? Just kind of wondering

I'd 100% use Neopronouns if my friends wanted me to for them (For example I use Xe/Xem as 1 of my pronoun suggestions which are considered neopronouns)

Hi @Emberfrost12! Welcome back btw! I did not know this thread existed but I am here now :) and glad to be cuz this is a good question :D

ok so basically… if my friends used them that would not be the soul reason I would, however I would be happy to join them if it was all fun and love.
I am actually kinda lazy with pronouns :/ so to people I don’t really know or little children I refer to them like it or thing 😅😅😂 so I already do that lol~
i don’t like to treat ppl meanly tho

Ok, I realized that it probably seems like I asked weather you’d respect someone’s pronouns. That wasn’t the point. I wanted to raise this discussion for other reasons, like the thing  about people who don’t know thinking you are actually objectifying the person you’re talking about, and about slave masters in the past referring to slaves as ‘it’ and people correlating the two.

Oooo, like when someone misgenders another person then refers to them as an 'It'? Or are u meaning just in general objectifying that person because of their neopronouns/pronouns/personality?

Mhm! I had thought the original general idea for this topic was whether or not respecting/supporting neopronouns

I don't currently have any friends who use it/its pronouns, but if I did and somebody thought I were objectifying them, it just takes a quick "it prefers those pronouns" to explain myself. If they continue to make it an issue, that's on them.
