Lately none of these have been working, so I've been curious, what do other people do? Or, how do you keep those coping mechanisms working so you don't sh? I realise it depends on the situation but people tell us these can be helpful: Snap a rubber band against your wrist Squeeze ice Slap a hard surface Find somewhere isolated and scream as loudly as possible Write down exactly how you feel, or if youβd prefer β scribble everything out Try a high intensity exercise, like running, boxing, swimming or circuits Use a red marker pen to write words where you would usually cut Find an old magazine and tear it up.
