HowToBreakTheSun
Being life as a lesbian is complicated, but a biracial lesbian? It's really tough. Backstory: My Russian mother meet my dad while they both immigrated from their home countries, Russia and Mexico. Fell in love, got citizenship, got married, blah, blah, blah. I don't traditionally look like a Latina, having pale skin. I get told, "Sweetie, you're not Latina." Oh. My. God. It annoys me like heck. If you've read my previous post about my homophobic parents, I've felt pressured to come out. But I'm not emotionally ready. I got off topic. Currently: The Latinx culture and the LGTBQ culture almost never mix. Throwing some Russian in it? Yikes. Sometimes I feel like I'm in my own little bubble. Well, that's my life. Monsoon
Hey @HowToBreakTheSun Yeah, I can totally get why it annoys you when people say you're not Latina; it must be a pretty invalidating experience for your identity. How are you feeling about everything at the moment? I noticed what you said about being in your own little bubble, and I'm wondering, what impact does that have on you? HowToBreakTheSun
It has a big impact. People seek others they can relate to, and when there is no one to relate to, what can you do? MultiQuote
