Equivalent Ways
On 2/21/2023 at 11:11 AM, TinyDinos said: Boxes Boxes. Neat little places to fit your friends. Tidy little nooks to fit yourself. Some people think. Some people act. Some people hide. Some fight back. Oh, the many different ways to organize society! Cliques on cliques, And groups of kids, Parenting styles too. Nobody’s considered an individual Until they’re just like you. Isn’t that hilarious? An oxymoron to live by. We want everyone to “live their truth”, But the part everyone forgets to say is: “As long as your truth is the same as mine.” Another word for a box is a cell. But not the kind that multiplies, We don’t want to build something new. No, we want to divide and destroy. A cold little place to keep their friends. A lonely little place to hide yourself. All A L O N E . Pancakes are mixed, Culturally diverse. Everybody wrapped in everybody Till we’re all one big world. Everyone loved, Safe and secure. Nobody worried about ‘gender roles’ Or color. Whether or not they wear skirts Or shorts. Or the what their grandparents’ parents thought was fair. OUR WORLD, however Is quite different you see. We’ve been ironed ladies and gents! Not a fluffy pancake! But rather a crispy waffle. Made from the same stuff, but used differently. In a way that may or may not be better, Depending on how you take a bite. You see, waffles are sad All of their boxes Keeping us just out of reach Of the best times we never had Never meeting The other side Of the crunchy walls of our box Until we’re pulled apart And reunited in the most unfortunate of situations. The real question is where does it end? When can we meet again? Without the fighting and pulling, But with ease and comfort? Well here’s your blunt answer, Short but it ain’t sweet: “Quit putting each other in boxes!” Lots of boxes, lovey little boxes, coloring the hillside MultiQuote

Being a teenage, Latinx, female comes with lots of prejudice and discrimination just by my last name alone. I wanted to draw attention to the stereotypes everyone perpetuates and got a little excited when I got an idea for a poem haha. Thanks for suggesting writings because it’s super therapeutic for me and it’s helped me bond with my mom a bit more recently I'm so glad to hear that MultiQuote

You've got a real talent for showing raw emotion and how confusing love can be with so many different emotions involved.
