They asked an indigenous tribe what they called the land. the Indigenous tribe didnt understand the question, so they answered with their word for village:Kanata. when the settlers brought back the news, they misspronounced it and it ended up as Canada. so Canada is just a mispronunciation of a word that means village. random enough for you?
