80sboy
I was bullied throughout my school life and spent most of my time alone, it was comforting and the only way I felt safe. After finishing college something made me want to have the social life others do. But i soon experienced symptoms that I was later told were social phobia and panic. I believe my symptoms and characteristics point toward aspergers syndrome... That was nearly 2 years ago. I'm still struggling and getting worse, the way I am felt feeling makes me suicidal at times and I have tried once. This was a point that I realised I needed help and the doctor put me on antidepressants to help. I want to feel normal and I want to socialise like a normal human being. What can I do? Ditch the Label Staff Harper Posted September 20, 2017 Ditch the Label Staff Share Posted September 20, 2017 Hi 80sboy, Welcome to DTL! Firstly, I think it's a really great sign that you recognised you were in a difficult space and spoke to your doctor to get some help. Aside from medication, were you offered talking therapy at all? Or something called CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)? Social anxiety is surprisingly common and it relatively straight forward to treat. If you give me a bit more of an idea about what you've already tried and how it's impacting you, I'll be able to point you in the right direction. Just to confirm though - are you currently feeling suicidal or is it more just thinking about it? Harper
louise19
Hey 80's boy, How are you doing? You are a normal human being I promise, I find social things hard most of the time, you really are not the only one. Thinking of you lots.
