TL;DR: Any tips for making friendship with a person with asperger? Thanks.

Hello! First of all, thanks for reading my question, I'm new here so I hope to have communication with all of you and tell you more things about my university and country, I can bet that these topics will be pretty interesting for you!

I'm Gabriel, but you can call me Gabe! I'm from Colombia and I'm currently studying in a public university here in "Univalle" we are allowed to have jobs inside the uni, I applied for a job that it's mainly based in helping freshmans to adapt to university, the thing I didn't know is that the freshman that was assigned to me has asperger! I feel lucky to have this guy as my student-partner because it will be a new experience for me, also I will have the chance to develop a partnership with him, the specialists that talk with him keep telling me that he is really shy and has a lot of problems to be a social person.

I haven't met him yet so I want to make a good first impression, any tips to develop a good friendship with a guy with asperger?

Again, thanks!! :):cool::cool:

Hello @gabe

Thats really great that you want to make an effort to understanding your new colleague well. Sometimes people with aspergers can have certain barriers with social communication and it's important to be aware of that. But I would say the best thing would be to be honest and open and just get to know them like you would anyone else. Be friendly and introduce yourself to them and don't expect lots from them and you should make them feel at ease.

Let us know how it goes.
