Darker than my normal stuff but meh here we go:

Mine

Softly through the years we danced

Living in pure bliss

I never realized I missed

Little bits going missing

You were my best friend

The superhero in my movie called ‘life’

There to catch me when I fell

As long as you were home anyway

Mine

Mine

Mine

Always there.

Time passes.

A funny thing time is, isn't it?

It defines and yet it’s altogether irrelevant all at the same time.

No matter my worthless musings

You have more important things to worry about

At least I still know you’re here

To catch me when I slip

You’re always ready and near

After you beat this level, obviously.

Mine

Mine

Mine

Mostly there.

Taller my small hands reach

I physically need less and less

Mental needs are another story

Kids are mean.

I no longer need a knight in shining armor

I just need a blanket

Something to shield and comfort

From the harsh reality I live in.

At least my partner in crime wouldn’t berate me

Wouldn’t leave me alone.

After you come home from spending time with them, of course.

You can catch yourself.

Mine

Mine

Mine?

Neither here nor there.

Sanity is a fragile thing

In fact I find it to be relative

Who’s to say that I’m unstable

When I’m the best I’ve ever been?

For now anyways.

There are layers to sanity

Anyone knows

You’re fine until one day

When you

s n a p .

i fell.

i lie motionless,

reeling from the revelation of what was there all along.

one thought echoes in my mind:

mine

mine

mine

As the leaves brown, I wither too

Is there any point?

What was this worth?

I beg of you,

come back.

Bring back the sun-filled days

Where I watch through rose-tinted lenses

The days of the past.

Before I knew.

Before I understood.

Before I noticed.

At least I have memories.

mine

mine

mine

Y’know what they say:

Hindsight is 20/20.

But really?

Anxiety is 2020.

The year my life fell apart.

When I fell, and I fell hard.

All by myself.

I’m older now.

I know what you’ve done.

And it scares me.

Because a part of you will always be

Mine

Mine

Mine

and i don’t wanna hurt anybody

Thank you for sharing - this has touched me. Your poem really tells a story that (at least in parts) a lot of us can relate to. And to me I can feel the raw emotion in it!! You're really talented. Keep doing what you're doing 😀!!

Thank you!!! I’m so glad that the work I’m producing can be enjoyed by others too. I usually don’t write but I’m starting to do it now as a form of coping when things get hard and it’s working well so I’m trying to keep up with it. :)

It sounds like writing poems might be quite therapeutic for you 🙂 It's great when we find something that helps us to process our feelings. And you're really good at it!! I'm glad to hear you're getting so much joy out of it!
