Not excepted

I just want to post this because I don’t know who to talk to…

Last year November I came out to my mother as Bisexual  and the first thing she dis was make me talk to a  counselor!

The first thing I felt was that my mother did not except my sexuality… I thought my mother would be the one that excepts me, but I was wrong…

If this is how my mother would react, then I don’t know how my father would act and I’m scared to find out…

If you have any advice for me, I would really appreciate it.

Hey @Ams

Thank you for posting here; we are here to talk with you and you are not alone 🙂

I'm sorry that your mother did not accept you. It must have been really hurtful for her to react the way she did. How are you feeling about it all? I'm wondering, has it gotten any better since you came out, or do you think it's still the same?

I completely get it. My mom is homophobic so I know she won't except me because my best friend and brother both came out and she was so mad. I hope your mom realized that she had screwed up not accepting you. You seem like a good person so if your parents don't except you that it's their loss.

Hey Ela,

I just wanted to check in and see how things are going for you at the moment? How is your mom with your brother now? Sadly, some parents do react badly at first, but once they've had some time to process the information, they usually come around to the news. I guess it can just take time for some people to get used to it, but it does happen :). I think it's important to remember how powerful the love that a parent has for their child is, and this love can transform even the most stubborn minds. Maybe you can take a look at this support guide and let me know what you think? https://www.ditchthelabel.org/my-parents-didnt-react-well-to-me-coming-out/
