There’s two types of cetaceans, baleen whales and toothed whales. I’m going to talk about toothed whales, which includes orcas, sperm whales, dolphins, and porpoises. All toothed whales have an organ called a melon in their heads, and it’s made of fat and believed to help them echolocate. The melon is most prominent in beluga whales.
A fun fact about melons is that they can be super squishy! Squishing them doesn’t hurt their brain in any way (but they might be a bit annoyed with you if you do)
